2007 "R" Grenache

Return to Wine List

Grenache comes in an array of different styles; from the dusty earthen terrior driven wines from Spain and the Rhone to the big gutsy old vine Grenache from Australia. Our offering is designed to show off the delicate fruit of the Grenache grape and to do so in a fruit forward style with soft tannins and a clean finish. Our Grenache sees limited time in barrel and is bottled before the next vintage is harvested.

The 2007 Grenache has a medium ruby color with bright youthful purple edges. The aroma is of strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb with a bit of lavender spice. Nine months in older more neutral oak barrels has kept the focus on the fresh vibrant fruit. There is a hint of hazelnut from the cooperage, but not much. On the palate zesty red fruits dominate and lead to a soft finish of mineral and toasty oak. This is a simple red wine made for early consumption and is perfect for picnic fare. You may find it even more enjoyable a few degrees below cellar temperature.
