The 2003 vintage has bright aromas of red fruits: currant, cassis and boysenberry. It is this focus on ripe red fruit that makes this Cabernet so distinctive. The bouquet of vanilla and allspice mingled with a bit of leather adds complexity. Bright, zesty fruit flavors are followed by layers of toasted oak and minerals. A rich, fully flavored wine, the Colina Poca Cabernet Sauvignon has significant but well-integrated tannins. I work hard to manage the tannins and create richness without astringency, so, despite this wine's youth, it is a delight to drink now.
